Framing can be confusing when you first start and it
takes years to become a good framer, so don't get upset if you don't get the
"big picture" right away. We have tried to set up this site so you can
learn as much as you need to get started and be a knowledgeable personal picture
framer. Here are some questions that have been asked.
1) How do I measure for my frame? The most important thing is
accuracy in measuring (you) and relaying that to your frame cutter (me).
Measure, vertical in several places and horizontally in several place.
Those measurement may not be the exact same across the piece but should be
very close and I want the largest of the measurements. THE MOST
IMPORTANT MEASUREMENT is diagonally from opposite corner to opposite corner.
Top Right to Lower Left and Top Left to Lower R. If they are not the
same or near same, DO NOT PLACE AN ONLINE ORDER, CALL IN YOUR ORDER. See the
link for measuring art work
2) What is a rabbet? It's not the Easter bunny! The
rabbet is the place in the back of the frame where the picture sits. Frames
talk about a frame by what it fits. 16x20,etc. A frame is ALWAYS cut
1/8 inch over the size requested. ALWAYS. This allows for
expansion of the art work during high humidity and just in case the art work
is slightly out of square.
3) How do I figure a Mat size? Measure your picture image that you want to show through
the mat hole....then add the width a mat you want and ADD THAT MEASUREMENT 2
TIMES. On a picture that you want the hole to be 9 inches wide and 13
inches tall and 2 1/2 inch wide mat (9+5 and 13+5 = 14x18) Be sure
that the picture has some overlap with the mat or your picture will fall
through the hole. Ooops! measure twice cut once. And at this moment we are
not offering mat on line, but if you call we can cut you a mat (or email)
4) What if I made a misstate ordering? Call immediately. If we have
not cut the frame we can change the order. If you order wrong and we have
cut the frame it is YOUR MISTAKE and you pay the price of the
correction. If we cut wrong we will correct the error at out expense.
5) How do I know which hanger to use? It would be impossible for us
to know exactly what you will need but we will include hangers for the back
of the frame and for your wall in a normally appropriate size. If you
have rock or brick wall, you will need to go to the local hardware store and
buy whatever is appropriate for your job. We can only assume you are
hanging on traditional wall materials. We do have
Tools and other
accessories with other hanging
gadgets.
6) Do you have gift certificates: YOU BET WE DO1 .We think framing
makes a lovely gift. You can order BY PHONE OR EMAIL and present the
certificate for an amount of your choosing. We will snail mail or email to
you or directly to your gift recipient.
You can order up to a designated dollar amount and you gift receiver can
choose to stay in that budget or pay the difference if they go over the
certificate amount.
If they spend under we will refund the difference.
